Ceramic Installation

Published: Jun 2007

Excerpt:

"It is also notable that whilst the work can be viewed as installation, it also crosses the boundary into sculpture, which historically within the gallery setting adheres to the policy of non-physical interaction. This observation can be applied to ceramics in the sense that on the most part ceramics are not physically interacted with within the gallery environment. "

Ceramics and the position of authenticity

Published: Jun 2006

"It is JorunnVeiteberg who stands out for me as the writer who most makes the best links between the situation of the ceramic artist of today and their positioning within today’s globalised world. She strongly suggests that ceramics within contemporary art practice operates within structures that are not, perhaps, considered as original discourse. This significantly raises questions towards the notion of authenticity, and as a consequence, the relevance of the authentic within contemporary ceramics."
